Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet has aggressively expanded its Bitcoin holdings, purchasing 463 BTC for about $53.7 million at an average price of $115,895 per coin. This acquisition increases Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin reserves to 17,595 BTC, valued at around $1.78 billion. The firm plans to raise up to 555 billion yen ($3.7 billion) through new perpetual preferred shares to support its “Bitcoin standard” strategy. This approach aims to establish BTC as a fundamental asset for corporate growth. Metaplanet’s strategy reflects a wider trend among global companies to view Bitcoin as a long-term strategic reserve.
