North Korean hackers have initiated a complex cybercrime scheme dubbed “Contagious Interview,” targeting the cryptocurrency sector through fraudulent job offers. They pose as recruiters on platforms like LinkedIn and Telegram, tricking victims into virtual interviews and prompting them to install malware. This malware grants hackers access to digital wallets, resulting in significant thefts, including a case where a victim lost $1,000 in cryptocurrency. Despite government efforts to combat such scams, including blocking SIM cards linked to fraud, experts warn that these operations are becoming increasingly sophisticated, necessitating heightened awareness and global cooperation to protect digital assets.
