Eric Dane, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star, dies at 53 – We Got This Covered

Actor Eric Dane, aged 53, died on Thursday afternoon following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which he publicly revealed in 2025.

Best known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan (“McSteamy”) on Grey’s Anatomy, Dane’s family confirmed he spent his final days with his wife, two daughters, and close friends.
Dane began acting after high school, with early roles on Saved by the Bell and The Wonder Years, before his breakout role on Grey’s Anatomy in 2006.
Post-Grey’s, he starred in The Last Ship and Euphoria.
Dane married actress Rebecca Gayheart in 2004; they had two daughters. Gayheart filed for divorce in 2018.
Dane is survived by his two daughters.
