Crypto Hackers Have Already Stolen $1.7B On-Chain in 2025, Surpassing All of 2024’s Losses, Says ImmuneFi Report – BitKE

In 2024, crypto users have reportedly lost over $2 billion, a significant rise from $1.49 billion in 2023, with North Korean hackers identified as key perpetrators. Notably, private key compromises accounted for 43.8% of these losses. In April 2025 alone, $92.45 million was lost across 15 incidents, primarily in decentralized finance (DeFi). The largest hack recorded was a $1.5 billion incident on Bybit. ImmuneFi CEO Mitchell Amador stressed the escalating threat from state-backed actors and called for stronger security measures, emphasizing the necessity for a “zero-trust” approach to protect against sophisticated cyber threats.
